Xie He didn't care about life or death, but he hadn't finished the game yet, and he hadn't even faced the Great Demon King Ji Yun. He felt like he was missing out.
He could only think of another way.
Xie He glanced at the whimpering ghost girl: "It's probably hard to trap a ghost like that. Let it be."
The two left.
They hadn't gone far when they encountered other players who had also arrived. They were visibly shocked to see Xie He and the school doctor together, and remembering Xie He's earlier words, their expressions grew even more astonished.
Zhang Langlang asked suspiciously, "Xie He, you've already gone to the archives?"
Xie He narrowed his eyes. "What happened?"
"Looks like you don't know yet," Zhang Langlang said proactively. "We asked other students about the school—they said the girl who jumped off the building often read apologies during school assemblies. The apologies were usually about conflicts and fights with classmates; basically, she had a terrible personality. Sigh… but nobody remembers her name—we were even planning to check the school archives; maybe they'd have student records there, and we could see if we could find the ghost girl's name—I just saw you coming from that building, and I thought you'd already gone."
The girl who jumped had conflicts with classmates.
Now they're going to the archives to look up the ghost girl's name?
Then his identity as the mole is about to be exposed.
Xie He's eyes darkened, and he quickly stopped the group, saying, "We just bumped into the ghost girl who jumped off the building over there."
Zhang Langlang exclaimed, "Huh?" The other players were also stunned.
Song Gua stared warily at Xie He: "You?! You managed to escape from the Ghost Woman?! Are you in cahoots with her?"
Xie He glanced at Sui Yuan: "Of course, he helped me."
Song Gua & the other players: "..."
The other players, seeing the injuries on Xie He's face, reluctantly believed him. Zhang Langlang: "Alright, did you find anything?"
"Yes," Xie He said, "I went to the broadcasting hall to ask the principal about the situation. I didn't meet the principal, but I did see the ghost girl, and I even asked about... the conditions for triggering death."
The game involves life and death, inevitably involving the exchange of benefits between players. Xie He's score is currently low; only by having value can he gain more support in necessary confrontations.
The players' eyes lit up, and they all looked at Xie He expectantly.
“They lied, so the virus exploded. They must have altered the clues they found to deceive us—if you don't believe this is the death trigger, you can try telling a lie and see if you really die.”
Xie He continued, “Then, I thought of a way to find the mole—”
His gaze swept over the players one by one, “Now each of us says, ‘I am a player from the good guys' faction, and have nothing to do with the mole.’ If anyone is still alive this afternoon, it means they weren't lying; if anyone's red spot suddenly turns black and explodes, then it means they are the mole—”
The chat exploded with excited comments: [Goodness, the thief cries 'stop thief!']
[Hahaha, this line probably won't work on the mole. He's messing with people again. I wonder how he'll handle it when the other players find out he's the mole, hahaha.]
No one objected.
After everyone had spoken, it was Song Gua's turn. Song Gua clenched his fingers tightly, biting his teeth.
Everyone stared at him. Song Gua felt like he was under a spotlight, nowhere to hide, his palms clenched with cold sweat.
He wasn't the mole, but he was now obeying the mole.
Who knew if Xie He was telling the truth, but it was a matter of life and death…
Xie He looked at him, asking wearily, “Why don’t you say anything, Song Gua?”
Song Gua glared fiercely at Xie He, wishing he could tear him apart.
He drew a slip of light from his pocket, flicked his fingertips, and dozens of golden talismans attacked Xie He!
They formed a Bagua (Eight Trigrams) pattern, like a net instantly woven, closing in on Xie He.
Xie He had guessed Song Gua would target him, but he couldn't care less at that moment.
Just as the talismans were about to touch Xie He, Sui Yuan flicked his sleeve, blocking them.
“Clang!” Like the chiming of a bell at dawn and dusk.
The talismans crumbled into dust—
Dozens of talismans scattered like gold dust.
“Xie He, you wait!” Song Gua’s vicious voice rang out, then gradually dissipated in the wind.
In the blink of an eye, Song Gua had vanished.
He must have used a card that allowed him to teleport.
Xie He’s eyes lit up. So this was an SSR-level card? Remembering how he always had to rack his brains to deal with evil spirits, he felt a tiny bit of envy.
The remaining players were all visibly astonished, and began to whisper amongst themselves. "Holy crap, Song Gua really is...?" "No way, I was on his team last game, and now we're on the opposing team."
Someone else asked, "But isn't he a guy?"
Xie He quickly added, "I've been thinking, the dress in my closet most likely belongs to Song Gua. I didn't check the closet at the time, so it's highly probable he stuffed his dress in my closet and framed me..."
He repeated his analysis from that day—that the "mole could be a guy"—but pinned the dress incident entirely on Song Gua.
After all, the one who wouldn't dare prove he wasn't the mole was Song Gua.
Everyone was shocked, and the scene was in complete chaos.
The players were frantically discussing countermeasures.
Xie He, however, felt dizzy again. His head throbbed, and the voices seemed indistinct, as if separated by a thousand mountains and ten thousand rivers.
"What drug did you use that day?" Xie He tilted his head and asked Sui Yuan softly.
"You know?" Sui Yuan asked, somewhat surprised. "Not sure. But it's a deadly poison, the kind without an antidote." He leaned closer to Xie He and said, "I'm starting to regret it. You're more interesting than I thought, the kind whose death would be a pity. But then again, turning you into a perfect work of art wouldn't be bad either. We'd call you: The Boy in the Crystal Coffin."
Xie He suddenly wrapped his arms around his shoulders.
Sui Yuan lifted his eyelids and whispered, "What are you doing?"
His consciousness was fading. Although he hadn't died yet, Xie He fainted, burying his head in Sui Yuan's shoulder.
Sui Yuan almost lost his grip, and the two of them tumbled to the ground.
The players heard the commotion behind them and turned around to see the two of them tumbling to the ground, still clinging to each other.
What exciting thing did they do that made one of them faint?
The players: "???"
The players: "!!!"
Wow.
Sui Yuan: "..."

Sui Yuan: I can't clear my name even if I jump into the Yellow River.
