Boss Teacher - Chapter 24: Golden Finger

The biggest nightmare of student life is running into a teacher halfway through a holiday, and to make matters worse, the teacher overhears your homework-copying plan.

Feng Wang's expression visibly stiffened. He instinctively straightened up, facing Yan Chi with the utmost respect, awkward yet polite. "Teacher Chi, what are you doing here?"

"It's a long story." Yan Chi gestured with his eyes that his hands were still twisted behind his back. "Feng Wang, could you please have your family release me?"

Feng Wang hurriedly pushed the male servant next to Yan Chi aside. "Teacher, I'm so sorry, I really didn't know they were holding you."

The male servant holding Yan Chi was trembling with fear. Seriously? He'd just grabbed the young master's teacher with a casual grab? Was the heavens trying to destroy him?!

Seeing the familiar way Yan Chi and the young master acted, Song Qian immediately felt like he'd found a golden goose. He shouted, "Yan Chi, Yan Chi, don't forget me!"

Yan Chi rubbed his sore wrist. "Can you let him go too? He's the one who helped me find you."

Feng Wang gestured with his chin to the male servant, who immediately released Song Qian. Song Qian dashed to Yan Chi's side, clinging tightly to him.

Song Qian's chat had been flooded with exclamation marks since Feng Wang appeared, with only a few words appearing now.

[Uh…was that a dragon? Ahhhhhh—! Mom, I'm amazing! I actually saw a legendary dragon!]

[I always thought the scariest things in this dungeon were the Snowfire and the giants with their giant axes, but you're telling me there are dragons in this dungeon too! Dragons that can take down two giant beasts like a joke!]

[The predecessors who died in this dungeon have no complaints...]

[Heh, they were killed before they even saw the dragon! Luckily, Xiao Qian hooked up with a golden thigh, otherwise who knows how many years we would have had to wait to find out that the real BOSS in this dungeon was actually a dragon.]

[Beauty, I apologize for saying you were a burden. You are the biggest cheat code!]

[…]

Song Qian glanced at the comments and was in a great mood. He knew that meeting Yan Chi would bring good fortune, and that idiot Zheng Yu even argued with him.

He should have slapped him twice back then, shattered his glasses that were blocking his future, and made him see that Yan Chi was the biggest cheat code in this dungeon!

Song Qian was incredibly proud; his judgment was still as good as ever!

Yan Chi didn't know that he had become a reliable golden thigh in Song Qian's eyes. He was still thinking about Feng Wang's homework-copying remarks. "Feng Wang, don't you have anything to explain to me?"

Leaving aside the dragons and monsters, the student he had personally taught was actually copying homework!

Yan Chi absolutely could not tolerate this.

When Yan Chi called out "Feng Wang" slowly and deliberately, Feng Wang was undoubtedly flustered. "Teacher Chi, I... I was just joking! I would never do something like plagiarism! I swear! If my homework is even slightly similar to Xingluo's, I'll kill myself!"

Yan Chi was shocked by his heroic declaration. "There's no need for that."

Most of the questions he set were multiple choice, with standard answers, and Xingluo's grades were among the best in the class. If Feng Wang's homework was completely identical to his, Yan Chi would be horrified.

Feng Wang thought it over and over, feeling that words were inadequate, but he really didn't want to be seen as a problem student by Yan Chi.

The once soaring sky-dominating master was now a hapless, miserable student, his mind preoccupied with how to salvage his image in his teacher's eyes. "Teacher Yan Chi, what will it take for you to believe me?"

Yan Chi coughed, somewhat embarrassed, and said, "Feng Wang, there's something I might need to tell you beforehand."

Feng Wang practically pulled out a notebook to memorize what Yan Chi said, nodding earnestly, "Yes! Please go ahead, Teacher."

"It's just... I don't know how I got to this instance, and now I can't go back to school. Could you take me back, or call Shen Mingsu over?"

Feng Wang paused, his previously stagnant mind starting to race. His tone was somewhat unnatural, "Teacher, you already know?"

Yan Chi naturally knew what he meant, "Yes, I know."

"And tell me about you guys, did Shen Mingsu ask you to keep this from me?" Yan Chi already knew Shen Mingsu was hiding something from him, but he hadn't expected it to be such a big deal. Actually, he didn't even need to ask Feng Wang; he already had the answer in his heart.

Under Yan Chi's serious gaze, Feng Wang nodded. "The principal said you have cognitive impairment, and told us not to scare you."

Yan Chi chuckled in exasperation. How could he not know he had cognitive impairment? He made a mental note of Shen Mingsu's impending doom, planning to deal with him when they got back.

Yan Chi: "Are the others in our class... like you too?"

Feng Wang: "Yeah..."

No wonder these brats always treated him like glass, being extra careful when speaking to him.

Seeing Feng Wang's hesitation, Yan Chi asked one last question. He lowered his eyes, his voice extremely soft, as if a gust of wind would dissipate it, "Am I human?"

This question truly touched on Feng Wang's blind spot. He shook his head. "I don't know, but humans can't be teachers at our school."

Hearing the answer, Yan Chi clenched his fists, his pale pink lips pressed into a thin line, making him appear somewhat pale.

After a long silence, Yan Chi finally nodded. "Can I still go back?"

"Of course!" Feng Wang replied without hesitation. "I can take you home now, but my dad doesn't allow me to go out lately, so I need to ask him first."

Yan Chi agreed, and followed Feng Wang towards his home.

Seeing Yan Chi's downcast eyes and sullen expression, Feng Wang handed him the large white cat. "It's very warm; Teacher can use it to warm his hands."

He had grabbed the white cat because they were incredibly cute when they shrunk, with their round, big eyes and twitching, pointy ears.

The white cat's fur was thick, and nestled in Yan Chi's arms like a handful of snow. A constant stream of warmth emanated from it. It seemed to understand its current task was to please Yan Chi, and let out a sweet, coquettish "meow."

Yan Chi could easily see that Feng Wang was trying to cheer him up, and smiled back, "Yes, it's very warm."

At school, Yan Chi was mostly relaxed and cheerful; when he wasn't smiling, those accustomed to his smile felt uneasy.

Feng Wang breathed a sigh of relief when he finally smiled.

Song Qian, who had been silent and trying to minimize his presence, glanced at Feng Wang, surprised. He hadn't expected this red-haired boy, despite his fierce demeanor, to be so kind to his teacher.

It seemed that as long as he clung to Yan Chi's coattails and played it safe, clearing this stage wouldn't be a problem.

At that moment, atop a snow-capped mountain, a melodious bell rang, and the heavy castle gates slowly opened. Five giants, each ten meters tall, emerged, wielding axes.

Each of them reeked of blood; the blood and grime on their axes were impossible to wash off.

The giants headed purposefully towards the forest below the mountain. They knew that every few days, a few annoying ants would appear there, and their task was to chop off their heads.

Yan Chi and the others, climbing the mountain, spotted the row of towering giants from afar. Yan Chi, holding his white cat, craned his neck, staring at the giants in shock.

In just half a day, Yan Chi's worldview had been shattered multiple times.

Suddenly, his arm was tightly gripped. Yan Chi looked at him, puzzled. "What's wrong?"

Song Qian's face was deathly pale. Looking at the giants getting closer, his palms were sweating. "I...I have a bit of megalophobia."

Seeing that he was about to faint from fright, Yan Chi reached out and covered his eyes, his voice gentle. "Then don't look. Are you feeling better now?"

Song Qian's voice was still trembling. "Much...much better."

Feng Wang glanced at Song Qian and smiled enigmatically. He knew, of course, why this player was afraid. Giants were always called meat grinders among players; it would be abnormal if they weren't afraid. The giants stopped before Feng Wang, knelt on one knee, and struck their chest with their right fist, signifying absolute submission to their master.

Feng Wang didn't even glance at them, leading Yan Chi straight past them. Watching Feng Wang leave, the giants picked up their axes, stood up, and continued down the mountain.

Song Qian clenched his fist, nodded, and glanced behind him after Yan Chi removed his hand.

These giants were all A-rank, but their bodies were like impenetrable walls; the players' attacks and items were completely ineffective against them. Only S-rank players could likely hope to defeat them.

However, S-rank players were few and far between. After the top-ranked player, Lin Heng, disappeared after entering the dungeon, the other S-rank players also lost their previous momentum and fighting spirit.

Even if they did enter, facing these giants, they would likely find it difficult to escape unscathed.

Therefore, players who entered the super S-rank dungeon were essentially doomed. But they were, after all, Song Qian's kindred spirits, and Song Qian couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness, a sense of shared fate.

Yan Chi's concerned voice came from beside him, "You don't look well. Do you need to rest?"

Song Qian's complexion was indeed terrible; Yan Chi was worried he might faint.

Song Qian clenched his fists slightly and smiled at Yan Chi, "I'm fine."

He didn't care about the lives of the other players; he had to get out alive.

Inside the castle, the head maid, carrying fruit, headed towards the study on the second floor. A black snake's tail was visible beneath her skirt. Seeing her approach, the maids who had been trying to slack off quickened their pace, afraid of being discovered.

The head maid's vertical pupils swept over the group, and she gave a soft snort, startling them. Outside the study door, she saw two small heads huddled together.

Xingluo was pressed against the door, listening intently to the sounds inside. Li Huai pulled his hand, "Maybe we should leave. Eavesdropping isn't good..."

"Aren't you curious?" Xingluo asked excitedly. "Ever since the principal and Teacher Xiaochi got together, they've been inseparable. Now the principal has come to see your father alone; something serious must have happened. Aren't you curious at all?"

Li Huai pursed his lips, hesitant.

Xingluo made way for him, "Come on, stand here."

"Ahem..."

The head maid coughed twice, and the two children immediately straightened up, calling out "Miss Qiu" guiltily.

Miss Qiu hummed in agreement, "Young masters, eavesdropping isn't gentlemanly behavior."

Li Huai, the obedient boy, immediately lowered his head and apologized.

Xingluo nonchalantly replied, "Yes, yes, I know."

After Miss Qiu went in to deliver fruit, Xingluo immediately pressed his face against the door, leaving Li Huai dumbfounded. He repeated Miss Qiu's words.

Xingluo, somewhat impatient, said, "I already said I know. I wasn't planning on being a gentleman."

He shushed him, listening intently to the sounds inside. "The principal seems to be looking for someone... he sounds very anxious. Oh my god, Teacher Xiaochi is missing! No wonder the principal came alone... Uncle Feng told him to calm down, but the principal won't listen. Huh... why is it quiet?"

"Bang—!"

The door collapsed from the inside, pinning Xingluo beneath it before he could even scream. Li Huai trembled in fear, staring at Shen Mingsu's frantic expression, too afraid to utter a word.

Shen Mingsu hurried along, still hearing him muttering to himself, "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid..."

Once Shen Mingsu had gone downstairs, Li Huai squatted down beside the fallen door and politely knocked. "Xingluo, are you alright?"

Xingluo stretched out a hand from under the door, giving an OK sign.

Downstairs, Yan Chi had just entered when he heard hurried footsteps. He looked up and his gaze met Shen Mingsu's.

"Teacher Chi!"

Shen Mingsu ran to Yan Chi's side, grabbed his hand, and pulled... but couldn't pull him away.

He looked up and saw a strange boy holding Yan Chi's other hand, looking at him warily.

Shen Mingsu: "..."

Who is this guy?!

Song Qian desperately held onto Yan Chi's hand, stubbornly glaring at Shen Mingsu. He didn't care who this person was, but no one could take away his golden opportunity!
